Is Body Brushing an overlooked Wellness Practice?

How many times do you jump in the shower and while you lather up your skin you notice dry patches mainly around your legs and arms. Summer is not the only time our skin dries out but also in winter with our clothes creating more friction against our skin, and we are constantly around dry heat (Air Conditioning, Wood fires etc) . When we bathe we may unknowingly use products that can also dry the skin like some shampoos and soaps.

One under used ritual that has so many benefits is the Body Brush and is used in many Spas around the world. You may ask does it really work or it is just an added time waster for my morning prep. By adding just 3 minutes to your morning routine you will see benefits as below.

Body Brushing:

  1. Exfoliates: removes dead skin cells more effectively than various creams on the market.

  2. Increases circulation: By bringing oxygenated blood to the skin surface the skin will appear more brighter and glowing, and will feel softer.

  3. Stimulates the lymphatic system: This helps the body detoxify itself naturally.

  4. Helps in keeping clogged pores and ingrown hairs at bay.

  5. Provide Self Care: You will feel good about your body.

Body Brushing is done before showering or bathing while your skin is dry. Brush your skin starting at your feet, and moving in long stroking movements upwards until you have brushed your body. Always brush towards your heart with a light pressure until your skin has a slightly pink, healthy glow.

If still a little unsure you can experience this treatment which we incorporate as part of our luxurious Tropical Body Polish and Scrub.

Our Bestow Body Brushes are ideal for this ritual as they have bristles made from natural fibres which stimulate the skin without irritating it. These are available for purchase from us and to help you get started on your Body Brushing journey.
